About Perham Lakeside Golf Course - Oak
Oak is one of three nines at Perham Lakeside, with Maple and Pine, a mile north of town. It's mostly the old back nine, named for the oaks that line the tees, fairways and greens. The holes regulars remember are the water-guarded tee shot on 2, the carry over the marsh on 6, the island green on 7 and the elevated tee on 8. From the black tees the 2026 scorecard rates it 36.0 with a 132 slope, a touch easier on paper than Maple or Pine.
The club goes back to 1946, when it was nine holes on flat, nearly treeless ground. It stayed that way for 42 years. In the mid-1980s golf boom the club hired Minnesota architect Joel Goldstrand to take it to 18, and the new holes opened in 1988. In the late 1990s Goldstrand came back to build a third nine to the south, and that's when the three nines got their names.
The club asks for a pace of two hours per nine, and if you stop at the turn you lose your spot. The clubhouse has a golf shop and the Lakeside Tap bar and restaurant with a patio, and the event center seats up to 400.
