About Nonesuch River Golf Club

Nonesuch River is a public, par-70 course of about 6,300 yards on 203 acres in Scarborough, near Portland. Tom Walker of Golf Design Studios laid it out, with bent grass fairways and greens built to USGA specifications. It isn't long, so the test is keeping the ball in play.

The river the club is named for runs right through the property, and the wetlands around it stay wild. The club says it kept habitat for moose, wild turkey, fox and deer, and there are no houses on the course, just the clubhouse. On the map, all 18 holes are tree-lined, a creek or river comes into play on 9 of them, other water on 2, there are about 40 bunkers, and the whole property moves only about 25 feet, so it's close to flat.
