About TPC Louisiana Golf Club
Pete Dye built TPC Louisiana with two Tour players, Steve Elkington and New Orleans native Kelly Gibson, on 250 acres of wetlands in the Mississippi River Delta at Avondale, about 15 miles from Bourbon Street. It opened in 2004, Golf Digest named it the No. 4 upscale public course that year, and it has hosted the Zurich Classic of New Orleans, the PGA TOUR's stop in the state, since 2005.
It plays like a Dye course. There are more than 100 bunkers, including big waste areas on the first six holes of the back nine, and a run of short par 4s to balance the long holes. Five sets of tees go from 5,121 yards up to 7,400 from the Tour tees, so pick honestly. The course calls the par-5 18th its signature hole: water runs down the entire right side. It's part of the Audubon Golf Trail and open to the public, with memberships for regulars.
