About Gay Brewer, Jr. Course @ Picadome

Picadome went in in 1927 as the Campbell House Country Club, and it was central Kentucky's first public course. The city owns it now, and it sits inside New Circle Road, close to everything.

Gay Brewer grew up here. Frank Atkins, the longtime pro, remembered his only trouble with the kid was keeping him from playing when he was supposed to be working. Brewer won the 1949 National Junior, turned pro, and beat Bobby Nichols down the stretch to win the 1967 Masters. In June 2007 the city renamed the course for him.

It's an old-style par 72: small greens with a lot of movement, tree-lined fairways and tight landing areas. Accuracy beats length here.
