St. Andrews is one of Overland Park's two city courses, and the city calls it the most popular 18-hole course in the Kansas City metro. It's tree-lined and, in the city's words, Ozark-feeling. It's a par 71 that tops out at 6,362 yards from the Black tees (71.0 rating, 127 slope), so it's more about placing the ball between the trees than bombing it.

There are five sets of tees, running down to 5,986, 5,598, 4,715 and 4,160 yards, so a mixed group can all play from somewhere sensible.

The land has a story. Parks Director Larry Flatt found 280 acres along 135th Street for $1 million, Wendell Lady, by then a state legislator, helped land a Land and Water Conservation Fund grant that cut the price in half, and Ben Sykes still had to talk the city council into it. The purchase passed by one vote. That tract is now St. Andrews, the soccer complex, a skate park and the Deanna Rose Children's Farmstead.

The practice setup is good: a lighted range with extended hours, chipping and putting greens, club fitting and lessons for adults and juniors. The Greenside Grill has a full bar with indoor and outdoor seating, and the Highlands Room handles banquets for 25 to 200.

Booking a tee time at St. Andrews Golf Course

Book a tee time on the Overland Park Golf website or call the pro shop at (913) 890-1650. Regulars buy the Patron Card, $45 a year or $35 for seniors 60 and older (2026), which gets you lower green fees at St. Andrews and Sykes/Lady; it's sold only in the pro shop or by phone. Walking is allowed, carts are sold by the seat with two riders per cart, check in with the starter 10 minutes before your time, and nobody under 8 plays the regulation course.
