About Madison Green Country Club

Madison Green is a public course despite the country club name, about 20 minutes west of downtown West Palm Beach. John Sanford designed it, and it opened in 2001. It's par 72 and 7,051 yards from the back with a 143 slope, so the tips are serious. There are five sets of tees.

Water is on every hole but one, with 42 acres of lakes, and there are more than 100 bunkers and waste areas. From the back you'll face some real carries, but there's usually a safer way around. The greens have pronounced slopes and run quick. Sanford routed it so no two fairways run parallel, through pine barrens, palms, oaks and palmettos. Homes border some holes, but the native plantings screen most of them, and you'll likely share the round with sandhill cranes and herons.

It has hosted U.S. Amateur qualifiers and state events. There's a full practice setup (range, chipping green with bunkers, putting areas) and the MarBar Grille in the clubhouse.
