About Lake Worth Beach Golf Club

Lake Worth Beach is the city's own course, and it's on the water: 18 holes, par 71, about 6,000 yards, stretched along 1.2 miles of the Intracoastal Waterway with the Palm Beach skyline across the lake. Big banyans and other native trees frame a lot of the holes, the holes dogleg, and the breeze off the water decides how long it plays. It's not long, and the club itself calls the design player-friendly.

Almost all of it used to be lake bottom. The City of Lake Worth voted for a lakefront course in 1923, hired Langford and Moreau to draw it, and got a War Department permit to fill the shoreline. Dredgers pumped in 400,000 cubic yards of fill, and nine holes opened on November 11, 1926, at a cost of $400,000. Green fees were $1 a day. Dick Wilson rebuilt those nine and added nine more, and the full 18 opened on November 6, 1948 at 5,808 yards and par 68.
