SilverRock Resort

The Arnold Palmer Classic Course: 7,239 yards of big native bunkers and water under the Santa Rosa Mountains, a Bob Hope Classic host from 2008 to 2011.

About SilverRock Resort

SilverRock is La Quinta's own course, built because the self-styled Golf Capital of the World didn't have a municipal one. The city owns it and Landmark Golf runs it. The Arnold Palmer Classic Course stretches to 7,239 yards over more than 200 acres, with massive native bunkers and water features and the Santa Rosa Mountains behind everything. The map survey counts 74 bunkers and water on five holes. Course character from OpenStreetMap contributors' survey data.

It made its name fast. Golf Magazine put it in its Top 10 New Courses You Can Play in 2005, the only California course on that list, and Golfweek named it one of the Best Municipal Golf Courses in 2009 and 2010. From 2008 to 2011 it was a host course of the Bob Hope Classic (now The American Express). In 2011 rookie Jhonathan Vegas shot 67 here in the third round on his way to winning in a playoff.

Expect some change around the edges: a hotel, spa, conference center, permanent clubhouse and branded residences are planned next to the course, and construction may interrupt a few views.

It's one of 9 courses in La Quinta on Yoink, and Mountain & Dunes Resort is practically next door — handy when your first choice is booked solid.
