The Nicklaus Tournament is the PGA West course the pros play in January. It hosts The American Express with the Pete Dye Stadium Course and La Quinta Country Club, the three-course rotation the event has used since 2012, when it dropped the old five-round celebrity format for 72 holes. That tournament started in 1960 as the Palm Springs Golf Classic and was the Bob Hope Desert Classic from 1965. The course and the Stadium also host the final stage of PGA Tour Q-School.
