About Grand Geneva Resort & Spa - Brute
The Brute opened in 1968, when the resort was the Playboy Club, and Robert Bruce Harris laid it out. The resort kept the Playboy name until the 1980s and is now Marcus Hotels' Grand Geneva. It's a par 72 of more than 7,000 yards, and the name tells you the reputation.
What makes it play long is the green complexes. The greens are huge and tilted, averaging over 8,000 square feet, and 68 big oval bunkers guard them, so a routine approach can leave you a very long putt. The fairways are wide and tree-lined, which gives you room off the tee.
Harris liked to mix things up. Only twice do you play back-to-back par 4s, at 9 and 10 and at 17 and 18. The rest of the way the pars alternate, so you're hitting a different club into almost every green.
