About Geneva National Golf - Palmer Course
The Palmer is one of three courses at Geneva National, the 54-hole resort outside Lake Geneva where Gary Player and Lee Trevino drew the other two. It opened with the clubhouse and the Trevino course in May 1991. It's a big course: 7,171 yards and par 72 from the back, with a 74.7 rating.
Most of the round is in rolling woods. GolfPass notes a tricky dogleg left with a stream in front of the green to start, severely sloped greens (the second and seventh especially), an elevated green at the par-3 third and an elevated tee at the sixth. The map shows 15 of the 18 holes tree-lined, 92 bunkers and water on 10 holes. Course character from OpenStreetMap contributors' survey data.
The finish is why people come. The last three holes run along Lake Como: the 218-yard par-3 16th plays to the shore, and the par-5 17th hugs the water for all 573 yards. Palmer called the 17th one of his favorites and listed it No. 11 in his personal Dream 18 of holes in the eastern U.S. The club hosted the Aurora Health Care Championship from 2006 to 2008.
