About The Omni Homestead Resort & Spa - Old Course
The Old Course is at the Omni Homestead in Hot Springs, in the Allegheny Mountains. It started as six holes in 1892 and was 18 by 1901, and its first tee is the oldest in continuous use in the United States. Presidents Clinton, Ford and both Bushes have teed off there. Donald Ross redesigned it in 1913, and William Flynn, Robert Trent Jones Sr. and Rees Jones have all worked on it since.
It's only 6,099 yards, but the fairways slope through peaks and valleys, so expect plenty of crooked lies. The card is unusual: six par 5s and six par 3s, an opening run of 5-3-5-5-3, every par 5 under 475 yards, and a par 3 to finish. The 14th and 17th look back up at the hotel tower.
Sam Snead lived around Hot Springs all his life and was the Homestead's pro for decades. The whole resort reopened after a $150 million renovation in 2023.
