Vermont Golf Courses & Tee Times
The Vermont Golf Association has run golf in the state since 1902, when seven clubs founded it, among them Ekwanok in Manchester, Mt. Anthony in Bennington and Rutland. It now represents more than 8,600 amateur golfers and 62 clubs. Vermont golf has deep roots. Ekwanok, a private club from 1899, was Walter Travis's first design. A 2026 study for the Vermont Golf Alliance put golf's economic impact at $671.4 million and 5,376 jobs.

Who runs public golf in Vermont
Most Vermont golf you can play is daily-fee or resort golf, not city or state run. Around Burlington, Rocky Ridge in St. George dates to 1963, and The Links at Lang Farm in Essex opened in 2002 eight miles from town. Kwiniaska in Shelburne, first built in 1965, reopened in 2020 after a PB Dye redesign. Resorts carry the mountain side: The Golf Club at Equinox, a 1927 Walter Travis course redone by Rees Jones, and Sugarbush, a Robert Trent Jones Sr. course. Golfers without a club can get a GHIN handicap through the VGA's Lakeside Club for $50 in 2026.

Getting a tee time in Vermont
Golfers in Vermont get maybe six months of good weather, and they all want the same weekend mornings. Demand bunches up from May to September.
Each course releases its tee times on its own schedule, commonly a week or two out, with residents of town and county courses often booking first. Leagues, outings and members claim chunks of the sheet in advance, and whatever prime weekend times are left tend to go on release day.
Booked-up doesn't mean gone. Plans change: groups cancel ahead of the course's cancellation deadline (often 24 to 48 hours out), players drop when the forecast turns, and a group that shrinks leaves an open spot. Those times quietly come back on the booking page, usually for minutes, not hours.
