About Sunrise Golf Course - Underwood Golf Complex
Sunrise is the desert-landscaped half of the Army's Underwood Golf Complex at Fort Bliss, run by the post's MWR program. It's a full-size test: par 72, 6,942 yards from the gold tees with a 72.3 rating, and 5,959 from the whites if you want something friendlier.
Its days are numbered. Fort Bliss decided to put its $7.7 million renovation money into the neighboring Sunset Course after estimating that bringing Sunrise up to date would cost over $9.5 million, mostly for its old well, irrigation and cart paths. The plan keeps Sunrise open until Sunset reopens, targeted for late spring or early summer 2027, and then repurposes the Sunrise land. The closing date hasn't been set, so play it while you can.
After the round, the Golden Tee has a full menu and bar until 4 p.m., and the new Performance Center has TrackMan simulators and club fittings with the PGA professional.
