About Elmwood Golf Course

Elmwood is the oldest of Sioux Falls' municipal courses, part of the city's golf scene since 1923, and it's 27 holes of parkland golf: tree-lined fairways, domed greens and classic bunkering, plus a five-hole par-3 course, the Fast Five. It sits in the northwest part of town, and its renovation needed sign-off from both the City Council and the Federal Aviation Administration. The map survey counts 46 bunkers across the 27 holes, water on only three, and about 18 feet of elevation change, so this is flat ground where the trees and the greens do the defending. The course was rebuilt one nine at a time. Work started on the East Nine in 2013, the North Nine and the driving range followed from September 2014, and the West Nine was finished in fall 2016, and the course reopened with a ribbon cutting in June 2017. The crews realigned holes, fixed grading and drainage, poured concrete cart paths, put in new irrigation and re-grassed every tee, fairway and green. A new clubhouse opened in 2026.
