Kimberton Golf Club

George Fazio's first course design, run by the Maack family since 1962. Fair off the tee, not too hilly, with a range across Ridge Road.

About Kimberton Golf Club

Kimberton is a family course in the literal sense: the Maack family has owned and run it since it opened in 1962. It's George Fazio's original 18-hole design, a few minutes from downtown Phoenixville, and Philadelphia magazine called it the first course the Philly-born tour pro ever designed.

Fazio is a good story on his own. He came within a playoff of the 1950 U.S. Open at Merion, finishing third to Ben Hogan and Lloyd Mangrum, and later built courses with his nephews, Tom Fazio among them. Kimberton is where the design side started.

It's a friendly round. Philadelphia magazine's May 2026 issue picked it as the beginner-friendly choice: fair off the tee, not many hazards, not too hilly. There's a driving range just across Ridge Road (Route 23), a putting green, lessons with PGA teaching pro Gregg Gipp, and the Roundhouse Bar and Grille after. The club hosts the Philly Pub Links Phoenixville Open every year, along with its own club championship.

It's one of 2 courses in Phoenixville on Yoink, and the closest alternative is Pickering Valley Golf Club, about 1 mile away — handy when your first choice is booked solid.
