About Armitage Golf Club
Armitage is Hampden Township's public course in Mechanicsburg, a short drive from Harrisburg. It opened in 1974. It's a par 70 at just over 6,000 yards from the back tees, so length isn't the defense. Narrow, sculpted fairways, recently added bunkers and tough greens are. From the blues it's rated 67.7 with a 118 slope. The survey data shows trees along 13 holes, about 68 bunkers and water on just three holes. Course character from OpenStreetMap contributors' survey data.
Harrisburg Magazine named it the "Simply the Best" public course in 2023, its 21st win in 24 years. It's a league course, with a Senior League, a Ladies Golf Association and a Men's Association, and pro shop sales go back into running and improving the course. In 2022 the township advertised a Golf and Dine special: 9 holes after 5 p.m. with a cart and a dinner voucher for the Caddy Shack.
