Boots Hollow is Bartlesville's city course, established in 1963 on land the Adams family gave along with a sizable cash gift. It was briefly Sooner Park Golf Course, then Adams Municipal for decades, and the city and the Adams family later agreed on the current name, after K.S. "Boots" Adams.
Turkey Creek winds through the property and has been dammed into ponds that come into play on many holes. At the par-5 8th and 11th the water sits behind cement block walls, so the ball is either in or out. The 10th is the one people remember: lay up short of water off the tee, then play an approach that runs 2 to 3 clubs longer than the number because it's so steeply uphill. It measures 6,748 yards from the tips, with Bermuda fairways and rough.
The big news is the greens. A $2.5 million project finished in 2025, designed by Randy Heckenkemper with Conor Cummings, rebuilt all of them in 007 XL bentgrass. Cummings says the new greens sit low in the ground, wrap around the bunkers with hole locations near the edges, and have short grass around them so you can chip, bump or putt from off the green. Aim at the middle and you'll usually have a long first putt.
