About Sleepy Hollow Golf Course
Sleepy Hollow is Cleveland Metroparks' showpiece, in the Brecksville Reservation above the Cuyahoga River Valley. Stanley Thompson, the Canadian Golf Hall of Famer, designed it, and it opened in 1924 as a private country club on land leased from the Metroparks. It went public in 1963.
It's an out-and-in routing, and that shapes the whole round. The early holes on each nine go downhill and downwind and play shorter than the card; the holes coming back go uphill and into the wind and play long. The front nine has the muscle: the 2nd is a par 3 that takes driver from the back tees, and the 3rd is a 481-yard par 4. The back nine is shorter and asks more questions, with a short par-5 14th and a short par-4 17th that tempt you to go for it. The map survey has trees along all 18 holes and 56 bunkers. It's a serious tournament course. It hosts USGA qualifiers and, every other year, the Greater Cleveland Amateur Championship, and the Metroparks says Golfweek has named it one of the top five courses you can play in Ohio. Metroparks sets par time at 4 1/2 hours for 18, and at the turn you get five minutes before you risk losing the 10th tee.

What it's like to play Sleepy Hollow Golf Course
