About Ironclad Golf & Beer Garden
This was Belvedere Country Club, a 1970 course that closed in March 2020 when a sale fell through. The superintendent kept mowing anyway, and neighbors along the fairways brought out their own mowers. That June, Ironclad Brewery from downtown Wilmington bought it, renamed it and set out to make it a place for fun golf rather than a country club.
The course itself is a par 71 of 6,353 yards laid out in a figure eight, a few minutes from the coast, so there's usually a breeze in the warmer months. The 5th green looks out over the Intracoastal Waterway. You can walk or ride; par 3s are cart path only, dogs on a leash are welcome, and there's no formal dress code. As of January 2026 the scorecard is back to the original hole rotation.
The rest of the property is the draw for a lot of people: a lighted 25-tee range with music and fire tables, six lighted pickleball courts on the old tennis courts, Shaka Taco and a 30,000-square-foot beer garden with live music and trivia. While the clubhouse is being redone, you check in at the Golf Shack next to the range.
