Durango Hills Golf Club

A par-58 Lee Schmidt and Brian Curley executive course from 2002: fourteen par 3s, four par 4s, and the Red Rock, Snow and Sheep ranges on the horizon.

About Durango Hills Golf Club

Durango Hills is an executive course that still asks for real shots: par 58, 3,724 yards from the black tees, with fourteen par 3s from 124 to 218 yards and four par 4s, the longest the 400-yard 11th. Lee Schmidt and Brian Curley designed it, and it opened in 2002, when Las Vegas Review-Journal and Vegas Golfer Magazine readers promptly voted it the city's best executive-length course.

It's a desert-style layout with undulating greens and views of Red Rock and the Snow and Sheep mountain ranges. The map data shows fairly flat ground, about 21 feet of elevation change, with 48 bunkers and water on two holes, so it's an easy one to get around quickly. Course character from OpenStreetMap contributors' survey data.

The land was patented to the City of Las Vegas by the Bureau of Land Management, and the city has a third party run it. The Durango Grill serves breakfast and lunch and has a patio over the course.

It's one of 35 courses Yoink watches in the Las Vegas area, and the closest alternative is Palm Valley Golf Course at Golf Summerlin, about 1 mile away — handy when your first choice is booked solid.
