About Benson Park Golf Course

Benson Park is one of Omaha's city courses, tucked into the park off 72nd Street in the northwest part of town. The layout is built on a hill and the lowland around it. Seven holes work their way over the hill, and the clubhouse sits at the top looking out over the wooded hills. Down low, a creek and full-grown trees come into play, and there's plenty of sand, with big bunkers in the fairways and around the greens.

Golfing Nebraska's guide singles out the run from 10 through 14, bunkered, tree-lined and crossed by the creek, as being as pretty as any stretch in the state. Golf in the park goes back a long way: the city bought the land in 1931 and a 9-hole course opened that same year. It closed in 1947, and the park got the 18-hole course you play today in the 1960s.
