About Buffalo Ridge Golf Course
Buffalo Ridge is a nine-hole course on 69 acres north and east of Kearney, and it was the town's first public course. The Fox family started building it in 1964 and held the grand opening in August 1966. It stayed in the family for three generations until 2023, when a group of local golfers with fond memories of the place bought it.
Don't let the nine holes fool you. The par 3s are long, the par 4s and 5s ask you to work the ball, and 15 sand traps sit around a tree-lined layout. You can walk it or ride, with pull carts and golf carts for rent, and there's a driving range for when you don't have time for nine or 18.
The clubhouse is part of the draw: drinks, pizza, chicken, Kearney Keno and games on TV, plus a burger-and-fries special every Thursday night. It's public, and the course sells single, couple, family and senior memberships too.
