Missouri Golf Courses & Tee Times
Organized golf in Missouri started in St. Louis. The Missouri Golf Association was founded there in 1905 to run the Missouri Amateur, with St. Louis Country Club, Algonquin, Glen Echo and Normandie as its founding clubs. Normandie, built by Robert Foulis in 1901, is still public. Today the state's public golf runs from old city courses in St. Louis and Kansas City to the resort courses at Big Cedar Lodge near Branson.
Tee times in Missouri are easier to get when you know when they open. Who runs public golf in Missouri
Cities run much of the everyday public golf. Kansas City's Swope Memorial was the first public course built there, in 1915, and reopened in 1934 after a full redesign by A.W. Tillinghast. It hosted the 1949 Kansas City Open, then a PGA Tour event, the 1953 United Golf Association National Championship and the 2005 Women's Amateur Public Links. In St. Louis, Forest Park hosted the 1929 U.S. Amateur Public Links. The MGA runs men's, women's and senior events plus the Stan Utley Tour for juniors ages 8 to 18.

Getting a tee time in Missouri
The season in Missouri runs roughly from spring to late fall. The first warm weekends in spring and the cool, dry weekends of fall are the hardest to book.
Each course releases its tee times on its own schedule, commonly a week or two out, with residents of town and county courses often booking first. Leagues, outings and members claim chunks of the sheet in advance, and whatever prime weekend times are left tend to go on release day.
Booked-up doesn't mean gone. Plans change: groups cancel ahead of the course's cancellation deadline (often 24 to 48 hours out), players drop when the forecast turns, and a group that shrinks leaves an open spot. Those times quietly come back on the booking page, usually for minutes, not hours.
