About Mallard Pointe Golf Course

Mallard Pointe is the golf course inside John W. Kyle State Park, sitting on a slight bluff at the southwest corner of Sardis Lake on about 150 acres. Bob Cupp, the architect behind Old Waverly and Pumpkin Ridge, designed it: a par 72 that stretches to 7,004 yards, with tumbling fairways, water in several places and only about 30 sand bunkers. The greens are generous but move, so the work is on and around them more than in the sand.

Golf Digest named it one of its Best Places to Play in 2004. The recent story is its comeback. The course closed on November 28, 2021, when the operator and the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks couldn't agree on a new contract, and it reopened in 2022 under a new operator on a five-year lease. There are also two four-bedroom villas overlooking the lake if you want to make a trip of it.
