Lakewood Shores Resort - Blackshire

Kevin Aldridge's 2001 nod to Pine Valley: hardwoods, big sand waste areas and rolling greens, with short walks from green to tee.

About Lakewood Shores Resort - Blackshire

Blackshire is the newest of Lakewood Shores' three courses, opened in 2001. Kevin Aldridge designed it to recreate the look and feel of Pine Valley. It isn't a replica, but you get the same rugged idea: holes cut through hardwoods, large sand waste areas along the way, and greens that move.

It sits on less than 200 acres and the walks from green to next tee are short, so it's a good one to carry your bag. It's par 72 and runs from 4,936 yards at the forward tees to 6,898 from the Blacks, with Gold, Blue and White sets in between.

The resort grew out of a struggling course that Stan Aldridge bought in 1986, and lodging came in 1990. Blackshire, the third course, followed in 2001.

It's one of 27 courses Yoink watches in the Mid-Michigan & the Thumb area, and Lakewood Shores Resort - Serradella is practically next door — handy when your first choice is booked solid.
