About Koasati Pines at Coushatta Casino Resort

Koasati Pines is the golf course at the Coushatta Casino Resort, set in the wetlands of southwest Louisiana among pines and live oaks. The ground rolls gently, and 65 acres of lakes shape the round. The map survey puts water in play near 16 of the 18 holes, with 8 forced carries and 44 bunkers, and very few holes are lined by trees, so it plays open and exposed. Course character from OpenStreetMap contributors' survey data.

It's a par 72 with six sets of tees, from 7,617 yards on the Black tees down to 5,154 on the Red, and three holes have more than one way into the green. There's a big gap between the Black and Silver tees and everything else, so most players will be happier at Blue (6,682) or White (6,236).

Golf Digest put it in its Louisiana Best in State top ten for 2015-2016 and ranked it No. 4 in the state for 2019-2020. The thing everyone remembers is the 19th, the gambling hole: a par-3 island green for settling ties and bets after the round.

It's one of 7 courses Yoink watches in the Lake Charles area, and the closest alternative is Contraband Bayou Golf Club, about 32 miles away — handy when your first choice is booked solid.
