About Duck Creek

Duck Creek is Davenport's east-side city course, part of a 211-acre park that was built up in the 1930s as a Depression-era public works project. The golf course sits on what used to be a private arboretum, and it shows: its 140 acres are full of mature trees, and the holes follow Duck Creek east to the edge of the city with what the course calls dramatic changes in elevation.

At 5,759 yards and par 70 it's short, so it's more about placing the ball among the trees and handling the slopes than about length. The city courts leagues here, and weekend mornings have standing times. The irrigation was automated in 1994, and in 2010 the city added a 14-station range that hits downhill, with targets at 100, 150 and 200 yards.
