About Bunn Golf Course
Bunn is the Springfield Park District's main 18, on the south side at 2500 S. 11th Street. It's tree-lined with narrow fairways, and water comes into play on several holes, so the driver stays in the bag more than you'd think for a par 72 that's only 6,297 yards from the blue tees (70.0 rating, 120 slope). The whites play 6,094 and the reds 5,232. The district itself says the 18th green is one of the most challenging in the area, so save something for the finish. The course record is a 62 by Rick Ciotti.
The ground has a history. Bunn Park started as Mildred Park, a privately owned amusement park that the park district bought in 1909 and renamed in 1913 for financier John W. Bunn. The Sangamon County Historical Society's SangamonLink says the course grew to 18 holes in 1917. The district credits the course design to Roger B. Packard.
Bunn is also the district's winter course. From December 2 through February 28 the other three courses close, but Bunn opens when the forecast calls for 50 degrees or warmer and conditions allow, with tee times first come, first served. Everything shuts down the week between Christmas and New Year's. There's a pro shop, practice green, snack bar, rental clubs and both pull and electric carts.

Carts stop going out 4 hours before sunset for 18 holes. A 2026 resident season pass good at Bunn or Lincoln Greens is $660 (non-residents add $70). In winter, when Bunn opens on a warm day, it's first come, first served. The pro shop is 217-522-2633.
