Hawaii Prince Golf Club

Palmer and Seay's three nines on old Ewa Plain sugar cane fields: ten lakes, white sand bunkers, and a B9 finisher that plays into the trade winds.

About Hawaii Prince Golf Club

Arnold Palmer and Ed Seay built Hawaii Prince on the Ewa Plain on land that used to be sugar cane fields, and it opened in July 1992. It's 27 holes on 270 acres, split into three nines (A, B and C) that you play in pairs, with the Waianae Mountains as the backdrop. Every combination is a par 72, and from the back tees they run 7,117 to 7,255 yards.

Water is the theme. Ten lakes sit on the property, and they come into play on six holes of A, three of B and seven of C, with white sand bunkers lining the fairways. The course calls A-C the hardest pairing and A-B the easiest. The hole people talk about is B9, a par 4 that usually plays into the trade winds with water left, front and right of the tee; the course says it's probably the toughest of all 27. It also says its greens are among the fastest in Hawaii.

If you want something shorter, Quick Shot Golf is a par-3 nine on weekday afternoons from 2:30, and it comes with a drink at the Bird of Paradise bar afterward.

It's one of 4 courses in Ewa Beach on Yoink, and Coral Creek Golf Course is practically next door — handy when your first choice is booked solid.
