About Venice East Golf Course

Venice East began in 1961 as a public course by Roy Albert Anderson on 52 acres in the Venice East subdivision. In 1983 a group of its golfers bought 37 acres of it and formed the Venice East Golf Association, and in 1994 the association bought the last 15 acres out to US 41 to get highway access to the driving range. The pro shop you check in at went up that same year.

It's still run by the association, with memberships for regulars, but the public leagues are open to anyone and you can play without joining. There's a range and lessons with George Rudy, and wear a collared shirt.

It's one of 3 courses in Venice on Yoink, and the closest alternative is Jacaranda West Country Club, about 1 mile away — handy when your first choice is booked solid.
