About Rockledge Country Club - FL

Golf in Rockledge goes back a long way. The first course in town was the Rockledge Golf Club, a nine-hole layout with sand greens next to the Hotel Indian River, established in 1911. The course you play today started as the Poinsett Golf and Country Club, which opened officially at the start of 1925; the local paper credited George Wilson with laying it out and building it.

The city took it over in the early 1930s and called it the Poinsett Golf Club, and workers paid through the federal FERA relief program added nine more holes. The full 18 opened in January 1936. The city had sold it by the mid-1940s, and in 2014 the Beyel family bought the club. It's on the Florida Historic Golf Trail.

It's a par 71 with five sets of tees from about 4,300 to 6,400 yards, so it's not long. It's semi-private: members get extra access and preferred booking, but public tee times are open. There are also pickleball courts open to everyone and a clubhouse that does dining and events.

It's one of 18 courses Yoink watches in the Space Coast area, and the closest alternative is Viera East Golf Club, about 3 miles away — handy when your first choice is booked solid.
