Sandestin - The Links

Tom Jackson's 1973 original at the resort, with five holes on Choctawhatchee Bay and the Baytowne Marina behind. The Gulf wind picks your club.

About Sandestin - The Links

The Links is where golf at Sandestin started. Tom Jackson designed it, and it opened in 1973, winding along the Baytowne Marina and Choctawhatchee Bay. It plays 4,897 to 6,710 yards from four sets of tees. It isn't long, and it doesn't need to be.

Five holes run along the bay, and those are the ones you'll remember. The resort calls it a risk-reward, shot-maker's course, and the prevailing Gulf Coast wind is why: hitting it straight and picking the right club matter more than distance. The ground is dead flat, about 7 feet between the high and low points, and the map survey shows water near 11 holes, six carries over it, trees along 16 holes and about 63 bunkers. It has a long list of honors. Florida Golf News had it in its Top 15 in Northwest Florida from 2000 to 2003, Golfweek put it on its Best Courses You Can Play list from 2011 to 2016, and GOLF Magazine named it one of the Best Golf Courses You Can Play in Florida in 2016 and 2017.

It's one of 28 courses Yoink watches in the Destin & the Panhandle area, and Sandestin - Baytowne Golf Club is practically next door — handy when your first choice is booked solid.
