About Sandestin - Baytowne Golf Club
Baytowne is one of Sandestin's four courses and, by the resort's account, the only course on the Emerald Coast that runs from the beach side to the bay, out to Choctawhatchee Bay. Tom Jackson designed it, and the resort says it has some of the only elevation change of any course in the area.
It plays from 3,002 to 6,804 yards over five sets of tees, and the resort pitches the forward set to beginners and to anyone squeezing in a quick round before dinner at the Village of Baytowne Wharf. The map survey counts water on 11 holes, 63 bunkers and trees along 16 holes, so you'll be steering it more than bombing it. Course character from OpenStreetMap contributors' survey data.
Golfweek had it on its Best Courses You Can Play list from 2011 to 2016, GOLF Magazine on its Best Golf Courses You Can Play in Florida list in 2016-2017, and Golf Digest on Places to Play in 2006. The practice area is irons only, and the dress code is collared shirts and spikeless shoes, no denim.
It's one of 28 courses Yoink watches in the Destin & the Panhandle area, and Sandestin - Raven Golf Club is practically next door — handy when your first choice is booked solid.
