About Commonground Golf Course
CommonGround belongs to the Colorado Golf Association. The CGA saved handicap fees for ten years, about $4 million, and hired Tom Doak to turn the old Mira Vista course into a hub for golf in the state. Doak redesigned and rebuilt all 18 holes and came in under budget enough to add a nine-hole par-3 kids' course, which the CGA uses to bring the game into local schools.
It was built to host every state championship and national qualifiers too, including qualifying for the 2012 U.S. Amateur and the 2019 U.S. Senior Open. It's also home to the Solich Caddie and Leadership Academy, which Doak calls possibly the best legacy of the project.
