About Bennett Valley Golf Course
Bennett Valley is the City of Santa Rosa's course, opened in 1969 at the base of Bennett Peak. Matanzas Creek wanders through the property, and native oaks, redwoods and pines line the holes. It's par 72 and about 6,500 yards from the tips, so it's a fair length without being a slog.
Know one thing before you go: the course was built on heavy clay, and the city itself calls it a fair-weather course that's close to unplayable in the rain. In winter, check before you drive over after a storm.
It's a busy, well-used place. The city owns it and KemperSports runs it; in 2025 it hosted more than 300 tournaments and events and was named KemperSports' 2025 Course of the Year. Locals care about it, too: in 2021, when the city studied redeveloping part of the 175-acre property, neighbors and golfers pushed back and a council member dropped support. There's a range with grass and mats, a big practice green, and the Iron & Vine restaurant and bar, with a terrace looking over the course.
