About Coyote Wash Golf Course
Coyote Wash is owned by the Town of Wellton, a small place 29 miles east of Yuma just off Interstate 8, and it's open to everyone as a daily-fee course. Gary Panks Associates designed it, and the setting is desert with the east slopes of the Gila Mountains in view.
It's not long. Three sets of tees run from 4,775 to 6,089 yards, so this is a round where accuracy matters more than length. It's a winter-visitor course at heart: season passes run October through April, and that's also when the Coyote Den restaurant and snack shack are open. The carts come with coolers, which tells you what the afternoons can be like.
There's a driving range and putting greens, club rentals in the shop, and private lessons by appointment.
It's one of 6 courses Yoink watches in the Yuma area, and the closest alternative is Butterfield Golf Course, about 2 miles away — handy when your first choice is booked solid.
