About Valli Vu Golf Course
Valli Vu is the Town of Afton's course, and Johnny Miller rebuilt it. Miller has owned a ranch in Star Valley for years and comes to fish, and he wanted to give the town a course the high school kids and the residents could be proud of. For a long time it was a simple nine-hole muni the local paper calls almost sleepy; then there was no course at all for several years, until Miller's 18 opened.
It's a compact, walkable course that slopes gently at the foot of the Bridger-Teton National Forest, with mountain views all the way around. The par 3s are the ones to remember. The 10th is Miller's favorite hole (the town's advice: play to the middle or short right, not a left pin), and the 17th is a long one that can play 40 yards longer or shorter depending on the pin. The 18th, a dogleg right, is the hole Miller left almost exactly as he found it.
