About 12North at Trappers Turn
12North is the short course at Trappers Turn, the Dells club Andy North and Roger Packard built in 1991. North came back with Craig Haltom of Oliphant Haltom Golf to route it, and construction ran from the fall of 2019 through 2020. The holes run 50 to 120 yards, with back tees to stretch a few of them, so you need a wedge, a short iron and a putter and not much else.
It sits on 15 acres folded in between the first few holes of the Lake nine, and the routing uses what makes the Trappers Turn property different: elevation changes, exposed sandstone left by glacial meltwater cutting through the rock, and views across the whole property from spots the main course never reached. It's an easy add-on after 18 on Lake, Canyon and Arbor, and a good place to bring kids; children under 3 play free.
The main club has its own history. Steve Stricker won the 1998 Wisconsin State Open there and holds the course record, a 64, and Kalahari Resorts has owned it since 2007.
