About Wild Ridge Golf Course

Wild Ridge is the long course of the two at this Eau Claire facility, and the course bills it as the Chippewa Valley's only true championship test: links-style, 7,034 yards from the back tees, with five sets of tees to bring it down to size. It opened in 1999, per Visit Eau Claire.

The round mixes two kinds of golf. You start from an elevated 1st tee cut out of the woods, and by the end you're on open, windblown ground like the par-3 17th. The course talks up the dramatic elevation changes, and the clubhouse sits on the highest point of the property, looking down on the 18th at sunset. Deer, turkeys and eagles are regulars.

It shares the facility with Mill Run, the other of its two 18s, and the bar and grill is open to the public seven days a week, golfing or not. There's a driving range and putting greens, and the carts are electric.
