This is Beaumont's city course, the only one the city runs, set among pines and oaks in Tyrrell Park. Civilian Conservation Corps Company 845 built it in the late 1930s along with the park's roads and drainage ditches, and those ditches are still part of the round: one crosses both the 14th and 15th fairways. The land is flat. The OpenStreetMap survey shows water in play on 13 holes and tree lines along 14, with only about 10 feet of elevation change across the property. It had a short stint on the PGA Tour. The Beaumont Open Invitational was played here, then called Tyrrell Park Municipal, in 1961 and 1962. Joe Campbell won the first by a stroke over Beaumont native Bert Weaver, and Dave Ragan won the second by three over Dow Finsterwald and others.

The name honors Henry Homberg, who moved full-time to Tyrrell Park in 1950 and stayed until he retired in 1982. The course was renamed for him in 1983. He paid his own way to take junior players to the Texas State Junior every year starting in 1942, and his pupils included PGA champion Dave Marr Jr. and Bruce Lietzke. He went into the Texas Golf Hall of Fame in 1981.

The greens and tees have been redone recently, and there are four sets of tees. From the blues it's rated 73.4 with a 130 slope, so it's a real test from the back. There's a driving range, and there are putting greens by the 1st and 10th tees.
