Warriors Path

George Cobb's 1972 state park course on Fort Patrick Henry Lake in the Appalachian foothills. The lake view to look for is from the 5th tee.

About Warriors Path

Warriors' Path is the Tennessee State Parks course in Kingsport, on the shore of Fort Patrick Henry Lake in the foothills of the Appalachians. George Cobb designed it and it opened in 1972. The state calls it one of the most popular courses on the Tennessee Golf Trail and a favorite around the Tri-Cities.

It's a par 72 carved out of rolling countryside, 6,601 yards from the blues (71.4 rating, 126 slope) and 6,090 from the whites, with yellow and red tees shorter still. The lake view everyone mentions is from the 5th tee. The practice area is a real one, with a big teeing ground, a practice green and a practice bunker, so come early.

It's one of 9 courses Yoink watches in the Tri-Cities — Johnson City, Kingsport & Bristol area, and the closest alternative is Crockett Ridge Golf Course, about 2 miles away — handy when your first choice is booked solid.

What it's like to play Warriors Path

There's real elevation change: some holes rise or fall about 194 feet from tee to green. 10 of the 18 holes bend, most of them to the right, which favors a fade, so position off the tee matters more than length.
