Barefoot Resort - Dye

Pete Dye's 2000 layout beside the white sands of a Carolina bay: 7,343 yards, waste areas and railroad ties, and the look of trouble everywhere.

About Barefoot Resort - Dye

The Dye course is one of four at Barefoot Resort, alongside layouts by Greg Norman, Davis Love III and Tom Fazio, and the resort itself calls it the hardest of the four. Pete Dye built it in 2000 next to the white sands of the Carolina Bays, and at 7,343 yards and par 72 it has the length to go with the look. The greens are Champion UltraDwarf, and the fairways are GN-1 Bermuda.

It plays like a Dye course. Railroad ties, waste areas, mounding and bunkers are everywhere, and Myrtle Beach Golf Trips points out how often a landing area looks tighter from the tee than it turns out to be, so trust the yardage and pick a line. The map survey counts about 180 bunkers, with water on 6 holes and trees along 15. The 15th has the most dramatic bunkering, and the pressure builds through the closing stretch. It was No. 99 on Golf Digest's America's 100 Greatest Public Golf Courses in 2009 and No. 14 on GOLF Magazine's Best Courses You Can Play in South Carolina for 2016-2017. It is also home to the annual Monday After the Masters Charity Golf Tournament, which the resort calls South Carolina's largest one-day charity golf event.

It's one of 7 courses in North Myrtle Beach on Yoink, and Barefoot Resort - Norman is practically next door — handy when your first choice is booked solid.
