About South Shore Village Golf Club
South Shore Village is a new nine in the woods of South County, opened to the public in 2024, and the Rhode Island Golf Association calls it the first brand-new course in the state in nearly 25 years. Ron Cutlip designed it for owner Larry LeBlanc as the centerpiece of a 55-plus community, and they kept a lot of what was there: native grasses, rock, trees and water, with white sand bunkers set into it. It's a par 35 with five sets of tees, and it's tighter than it looks. One player at a RIGA qualifier said if you don't hit it straight you're gone all day, so bring extra balls.
The clever part is that every hole has a par-3 tee too, so the same nine plays as a 1,265-yard par-27 course: good for beginners, kids, or a quick iron-game session. The range is a 30,000-square-foot grass tee, open to everyone and year-round when the weather allows.
The course runs as a nonprofit, with proceeds split between St. Jude Children's Hospital and South County Hospital. In summer it picks up the beach crowd, and the fall, with the foliage, is a good time to go.
