About Allentown Municipal Golf Course
Allentown's city course opened in 1952 to a design by Ault, Clark and Associates, and it has some teeth: 6,845 yards from the Championship tees with a 72.4 rating and a 132 slope. Five sets of tees bring it back to something friendlier. The Golf Association of Philadelphia describes a walkable layout with mature trees, so carrying your bag is realistic.
Practice is well covered, with a range, a short-game area and two putting greens, and Jack's Slice does pizza for after. The course is open every day.
It's one of 3 courses in Allentown on Yoink, and the closest alternative is The Club at Twin Lakes - Twin Lakes, about 4 miles away — handy when your first choice is booked solid.
