About Thousand Islands Country Club
Thousand Islands Country Club has had golf on Wellesley Island since 1894, which makes the Old Course one of the oldest in the country. It plays 6,603 yards from the blues (71.7, 132 slope), 6,120 from the whites and 5,250 from the reds, with views of both the St. Lawrence and the Lake of the Isles. The front nine is open and the back nine is in the woods, and there are ponds everywhere and a breeze more often than not. The glaciers left the ground rolling, and the club calls it somewhat linksy.
A few holes stand out. The par-3 4th is 180 from the whites and 240 from the blues, to one of the hardest greens on the course. The 11th tees off a cliff over the Lake of the Isles. And the short par-3 16th has a classic Seth Raynor punchbowl green.
The second 18, the Lake Course, comes with a story. George Boldt, of Boldt Castle, dug a maze of protected gondola canals on his Wellesley Island land so his wife Louise could be rowed through the islands out of the weather. The Lake Course winds through those canals. There's a lot of water, but the club says it's within reach of higher handicappers. The resort has a ten-acre practice area, a restaurant and bar, villas, a marina with boat rentals and pickleball, and it's open to the public for 2026.
