About Quail Run Golf Course
Quail Run is a public course in Columbus that opened in 1991, designed by Frank Hummel. The trees are the thing: it's cut through towering cottonwoods, 100 feet tall by the course's count, along the Loup River and the historic Old Mormon Trail, so a new layout plays like it's been there much longer.
The course sums up the holes as tempting par 5s, deceiving par 3s and fair but demanding par 4s. It stretches to about 7,200 yards from the back, with five sets of tees starting at 5,200. Its sister course, Van Berg in Pawnee Park, was the first course built in Columbus, in 1928, and one season pass covers both.
It's one of 12 courses Yoink watches in the Norfolk & Northeast Nebraska area, and the closest alternative is Van Berg Municipal Golf Course, about 2 miles away — handy when your first choice is booked solid.
