About Landmand Golf Club

Landmand is big in every direction. It sits on 580 acres outside Homer, a village of about 500 people, which the Sioux City Journal puts at nearly four times the size of an average course. GOLF.com describes a layout of expansive greens and fairways, sprawling bunkers and sandy wastes, built to match the big-sky site. The story is a farm family's. Will Andersen, son of a third-generation farmer, came home after a stint in the club business and decided to turn part of the family's farmland into a golf course. He emailed Rob Collins out of the blue; Collins and Tad King, the pair behind the nine-hole Sweetens Cove in Tennessee, took the job. It opened in September 2022, and Golf Channel later aired a documentary on it, "Anything but Little," a play on Homer's motto, "Little but Lively."

Then it got famous. The Sioux City Journal reports that the Wall Street Journal called it "America's Toughest Tee Time." The whole 2025 season sold out in less than an hour after the tee sheet went live on New Year's Eve 2024. There are four themed cabins on site if you want to stay, at $600 a night per the Journal's 2025 story.
