Heritage Hills Golf Course

A 1981 Phelps and Benz links-style layout, among Nebraska's first: rolling native-grass hills, fast undulating greens, 7,131 yards from the tips.

About Heritage Hills Golf Course

Heritage Hills opened in 1981 as one of the first links-style courses built in Nebraska, a Dick Phelps and Brad Benz design. It's rolling, open ground with native grasses framing the fairways and fast, undulating greens. Golf Digest counted it among its Best 75 Golf Courses in 1984. The map survey counts about 55 bunkers, just one hole with water and only a couple lined by trees, with roughly 84 feet between the high and low points, and nine holes that bend. A 2013 renovation stretched it both ways: the back tees now play 7,131 yards, and new forward tees bring it down to 5,261, across five sets. The crew also laid more than 4,000 feet of concrete cart path. It has hosted most of the state associations' events, including the 2014 Nebraska Junior Match Play, and every year it holds the John Mullen Community Hospital Pro-Am.

It's one of 14 courses Yoink watches in the Kearney & Central Nebraska area, and the closest alternative is Cross Creek Golf Links, about 27 miles away — handy when your first choice is booked solid.
