About Shepherd's Hollow Golf Club

Shepherd's Hollow feels like up-north golf 30 miles from Detroit. The 350 acres are leased from the Colombiere Center, a retreat run by the Jesuits' Detroit Province, and the land has 160 feet of elevation change, four kinds of oak, and pines the priests planted. Arthur Hills designed all 27 holes, and most people who know it say holes 10 through 27 make the best 18.

The club lists the full course at 7,236 yards and par 72. The fairways are wide and natural and the greens are big and flowing, so you'll hit more shapes and odd lies than on a typical suburban course. The club says imagination is the main thing you need. There's no beverage cart, so the turn grille will ice drinks for your first nine, and the range closes Wednesday mornings for maintenance.

At about 25 years old, the course started a multi-year improvement program in 2026: new tees on the 2nd, 5th and 8th, the bunker on the 5th removed, and about 125 bunkers being rebuilt with the Better Billy Bunker system. On some September dates only 18 holes are open while crews work.

It's one of 3 courses in Clarkston on Yoink, and Fountains Golf and Banquet is practically next door — handy when your first choice is booked solid.

Booking a tee time at Shepherd's Hollow Golf Club

Tee times open two weeks ahead online, and prices are dynamic, so booking early usually gets a lower rate. You need an account to book. Cancel more than 24 hours out for a refund or rain check; between 24 and 12 hours you get a rain check; inside 12 hours, or a no-show, gets nothing. Greens are aerated one nine at a time each fall, so 18 holes stay in good shape. Pro shop: (248) 922-0300.
